Slingerland Vintage 14X5.5" Chrome Over Brass Snare Drum (1968?)

Vintage Slingerland COB 14×5.5″ snare drum that has been updated and modified. Drum is in great condition, and I believe based on the the rolled brass bearing edges and the black and gold badge that this shell dates from 1968 or a couple years older. The 8 lugs are new world max replicas as several of the old lugs screw holes were stripped. Additionally the original (and finicky) three point snare throw off has been replaced with a very good quality slightly used Trick snare throw off. One hole was drilled to accommodate the Trick strainer. The original butt plate is intact and functioning fine. Comes with the original Slingerland stick saver hoops both top and bottom. Ships with barley used batter and resonate heads.
Snare has tremendous pop and presence. These vintage Slingerland COB snare drums have a unique sound of their own. Quite unlike other brass drums. It’s a heavy drum and having had it apart I can tell you it’s mostly due to the thick brass shell. When tuned up it’s almost got a piccallo vibe to it. Sounds fantastic at a medium tuning, and the shell really opens up when you lay into it. At any rate a totally functional worry free gig/studio ready vintage snare drum thanks to the updates.
